An Anti-Aircraft Gun of the Austro-Hungarian Imperial Navy: The 7-cm L/30 Marine-Ballonabwehrgeschütz (B.A.G.) Skoda M1912.

An Imperial Austro-Hungarian Navy anti-aircraft gun:
the Marine-Ballonabwehrgeschütz (BAG) Skoda M1912 7-cm L/30.

An anti-aircraft artillery position of the Austro-Hungarian Navy, belonging to a Battery deployed along the coast and close to an Adriatic port, from which the mouth of the port and the can be seen, the right of the photograph, the elements of signage of the same. On the right, in the foreground, a Bulgarian officer.

The gun is one of the most unknown of the A-H Anti-Aircraft Artillery, despite its importance, especially during the first years of the war. It was first used by the Imperial Austro-Hungarian Navy on ships, ground fixed positions and 2-ton Austro-Fiat trucks. Later it was used by the Army, both in fixed ground positions and on the aforementioned trucks.

The crews, in a first stage, were formed by marine artillerymen, later they were combined with army troops, who were instructed in the handling of the guns..

An Austro-Hungarian Anti-Aircraft Artillery Section deployed in the open field.

An Austro-Hungarian Anti-Aircraft Artillery Section deployed in the open field. It is composed of two 8-cm m.5/8 field guns adapted to anti-aircraft fire on a 360º rotating base, and whose height allowed a considerable angle to the pieces. The logs that can be seen around the Section were probably used to build blockhouses to protect the gunners from possible strafing by enemy aircraft.

The trunks that can be seen around the Section were probably used to build blockhouses to protect the artillerymen, totally exposed to possible strafing by enemy aircraft.

Austro-Hungarian 8-cm M14 Anti-Aircraft Gun

Austro-Hungarian 8-cm M14 Anti-Aircraft Gun

K.u.K. 8-cm m.14 Lfa-Kanone auf Radlafette.

Designed by Skoda in 1914 at the request of the Army, given the need for standard anti-aircraft guns. With the purpose that these would complement the fortunes made on all fronts, to provide antiaircraft capacity to conventional field guns. The 8-cm m.14 was capable of reaching a maximum barrel elevation of 80º and was also able to rotate 360º thanks to its small rear wheel.
All this was achieved without having to carry out any type of work: mounds, pits, etc.

*****************

Austro-Hungarian 7-cm L/30 M1910 BAK (Anti-Aircraft) Skoda Naval Gun. Lignano Sabbiadoro, Udine, Italy 1917.

After the Caporetto disaster, the Austro-Hungarians occupied the coast to the south of the province of Udine.
In Lignano Sabbiadoro, an 8-km stretch of sand, located between the Marano Lagoon, the Tagliamento river and the sea, the Austro-Hungarian Navy installed, at least, one Anti-Aircraft Battery of 7-cm BAK (actual caliber 6.6-cm). One of these cannons is shown in the photograph.
The battery was located near the Finance Guard Barracks, an old building from the Napoleonic era.
Possibly between late 1917 or early 1918.
